I am always fascinated by what people choose to do with their graffiti skills. Legend has it that when Madonna was starting out in New York during the early 1980s, she’d spray paint her name everywhere so everyone would get used to seeing it. Some people paint elaborate, colorful murals on trucks…
and while I was in Milan, I noticed that Italian graffiti tends to be very political.
All of which is why I found this bit of East Village NYC graffiti highly amusing:
Yes, this street artist took great pains to achieve his artistic vision by not only painting a dong, but labeling it DONG, lest there be any pathetic, misguided souls out there who don’t recognize a quality dong when they see one.
I salute you, Dong Artist. You bring out my inner 12-year-old.
