I walked to a pal’s birthday party in the East Village the other day.
It was one of those rainy, humid, hot, smelly days that make you wonder if you should even leave your apartment.
To be honest, I wasn’t feeling very festive.
But that soon changed.
Because en route to this birthday party I saw “A Charlie Brown Christmas In July” on St. Marks:
Then I cut through Tompkins Square Park, breathing in the scent of damp pavement, soggy grass, wet terriers, bulldogs and collies in the dog run and watched some street hockey under the grey skies:
Maybe I’m easy to please, but by the time I got to the party…it was literally just icing on the birthday cake.
Sometimes it’s the little things that remind me how much I love NYC.
Happy Friday everyone!
